Good Theology bleeds into your feet! If the study of your faith produces a static dogmatism of immovable religiosity and does not seek a more humane world where loving God and loving humanity are inseparable , it will lead to violence.
An orthodoxy established upon the blood of those that disagreed (whether they were Christians or not) is stained and acquiescence to its power or claims is untenable. Christian faith requires we continually imagine with God how to speak truth and communicate the gospel.
Sadly, the inflexible indoctrination into various church groups through statements of faith that exceed what is required to become a child of God of Christian faith divide the body of Christ and produce religious meanness rather than disciples.
Maturity recognizes we are not all going to think the same about many (so called) biblical claims that in no way impede a life lived in the light of Christ and led by the Spirit.
A mature person can peacefully discuss theological and interpretive differences that do not deny the deity of Christ, his Lordship, his resurrection, and his return without excluding their fellow sojourners (Christians).
A mature person will produce valid critical claims that expose the inconsistencies of popular beliefs and practices. We ignore our intellectuals at our own expense. It is the intellectuals calling to speak truth regardless of how painful it may be for both the hearers and their own selves.
Evangelicals (for the most part) are programmed thinkers and have ceased to ask the questions begging to be asked.
