Global Strategy and Military Supremacy

The recent buildup of Chinese military bases and aggression in the South China Sea is modeled after the 'lily pad' base strategy of the U.S. The ‘lily pad’ base strategy is similar to the practice of maintaining ‘coaling’ or fueling stations throughout the Far East. Coaling stations were locations for U.S. ships to refuel. These stations were aggressively sought along the coast of China after the Boxer rebellion in 1900.
